The story of Nathaniel McHorney's 1901 trip to Ecuador.

April 6th, 1901

The page for Saturday, April 6th says:

Up at 4 A.M. listening to the "Holy"
people at Playa de Oro going the
way of the cross. Truly a theme for
much thought. Changing at each Station.
Leave at 6:30 A.M. for Playa Rica.
Breakfast with Mr. Meisner; at office
9 A.M.
Work fairly good all day.
Mr. A.L. Moore to leave on Monday
to go to Urimbi, firstly - then meet his son
on Tuesday thence to Tumaco straight to
New York.
Mr. D.C. Stapleton is to take him to Concepcion.
He is to go to Quayaquil 2 weeks later.
No rain to-day.
Past 48 hours 3 01/100 inches.
Boy and I play cards.

Devotions at night.

Questions and comments:

  • Originally, it said “D.C. Stapleton escorts him to Concepcion”, but “escorts” has been crossed out and replaced with “is to take”.
