The story of Nathaniel McHorney's 1901 trip to Ecuador.

April 12th, 1901

The page for Friday, April 12th says:

At office 6 A.M.
Worked 4 hours correcting laborers
pay roll.
Uneventful day.
Boy gave Mr. D.C. Stapleton one hour's
selections from the phonograph.
"Thank you very much son"
Rather inclined to deep thought I fancy.
Not much of a companionable man though
strictly just.
It is strange for me to associate with such a man.
Much thought of the word home.
Money is not enough to keep one
from home to gain it.
Boy at his Spanish to-day.
It looks like a deserted village here
just now.
A meagre store-keeper, cook and self and
boy, only ones here.

Mr. Meisner to leave here with Mr. Stapleton
on the 23rd of April.
