The story of Nathaniel McHorney's 1901 trip to Ecuador.

May 14th, 1901

The page for Tuesday May 14th says:

At office 5:45 A.M.
Did good work. Rather a preparatory
day for my leave taking.
Gerald offered a slight but I refused it.
No canoes with provisions have come
up the river. Mr. Matson is in charge at
Boqueron.
Only thing to say to-day is so far
this month over 21 inches of rain
have fallen.
Hear desultory news of S.S. Manavi's
poor condition.
Gang at telephone line commence
in the morning.
Boy is a great comfort.

Questions and comments:

  • Nathaniel expects tomorrow to be his last day.
  • Manavi is the company ship that Nathaniel arrived on.
