The story of Nathaniel McHorney's 1901 trip to Ecuador.

August 21th, 1901

The page for Wednesday, August 21th says:

See soldiers leave Esmeraldas for
frontier lines.
Hear that Concha's papers come
appointing him Minister of War
and Marine.

Mr. Dumarst (?) talks much of Mr. D.C.
Stapleton's business incompetency or
lack of judgement.

Questions and comments:

  • Nathaniel did not mention Mr. Dumarst (sp?) when he was in Esmeraldas on the trip down.
  • José Vicente Concha was a Columbian politician, ambassador to the United States, and later, (1914-1918) president of Columbia.
