The story of Nathaniel McHorney's 1901 trip to Ecuador.

August 24th, 1901

The page for Saturday, August 24th says:

Leave Tumaco - 8:30 A.M.
Manavi in bad shape - Cannot keep up steam.
Bilge water gains on the pumps - 2nd engineer
talks.
Saw Shark shooting to-day.
Heavy Westerly swells. Going 7 Miles an hour.

Just a little sick.

Down to pumping by hand.

Questions and comments:

  • The Manavi is the name of the ship.
  • It is the ship that brought Nathaniel from Panama to Esmeraldas.
